This combined tour is designed for adventure seekers who want to experience both the majesty of Mount Kilimanjaro and the thrill of Tanzania’s wildlife. The first seven days are spent on the scenic Lemosho Route, known for its high summit success rate, followed by a three-day safari through Tanzania’s most famous parks.
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Meet your climbing guide for a detailed briefing and gear check. Dinner and overnight stay in preparation for your trek.
The 7-day Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and rewarding paths to the summit. Starting from the western side of the mountain, it offers excellent acclimatization and less crowded trails. Below is a brief breakdown of the trek:
Begin your trek through lush rainforest, spotting colobus monkeys and tropical birds. Overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m).
Climb out of the forest into the moorland zone, reaching the Shira Plateau for incredible views of Mount Meru and the Great Rift Valley.
Continue across the plateau to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m), enjoying the scenic beauty of the volcanic terrain and acclimatization hikes.
Ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m) before descending to Barranco Camp (3,960m). This “climb high, sleep low” approach helps with acclimatization.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall, trek through alpine desert, and arrive at Barafu Camp (4,670m) — your base before the summit push.
Start the final ascent around midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Celebrate your success at the Roof of Africa before descending to Mweka Camp for overnight rest.
Descend through the rainforest and collect your summit certificates at Mweka Gate. Transfer to Moshi or Arusha for relaxation and overnight stay before beginning your safari.
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park. Known for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, this park offers incredible game drives and diverse wildlife sightings. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and continue exploring before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Big Five. The crater floor is rich in wildlife, including lions, rhinos, elephants, and flocks of flamingos along the lake shore. Have lunch near the hippo pool before ascending the crater rim.
On your final safari day, visit Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions, pink flamingos, and lush groundwater forest. Enjoy a morning game drive and scenic views of the Rift Valley escarpment before returning to Arusha in the afternoon for departure.
The best time for this itinerary is during Tanzania’s dry seasons — June to October and December to March. These months offer clear skies for climbing and optimal wildlife viewing conditions.
Train regularly before the trip, stay hydrated, and follow your guide’s instructions closely for acclimatization. After your trek, the safari portion provides the perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy Tanzania’s wild beauty.
